Thinking Out Loud
I just realized that it's been quite a while since I've updated my blog. School, work, life is to blame. I'm just pretty darn busy right now. However, Spring Break is only a week away! Here are some short random thoughts:
-Ken Griffey Jr obviously does not care about winning.
-I'm moving next week
-The NY Post political cartoon this week was hilarious...funny...corny...not racist. Get over yourselves. We give you the presidency and you still whine.
-Monkeys are not to be pets. If you don't know what I'm talking about, read the news.
-Obama has no idea what he's doing. Bring back W!
-Conan O'brien has been kicking butt this week...his final week of hosting Late Night.
-I'm excited to see how Jimmy Fallon does with Late Night...he begins March 2nd.
-As a comedy fan, I think this is great. We get Leno, Conan, and Fallon this fall. While I'm not the biggest Leno fan, he sure the heck beats showing an episode of Law & Order or some other crap. Long live late night comedy!
-New great tv show: Eastbound & Down on HBO. Hi-larious.
Check out my blog later this weekend or early next week for my theory about Twitter users. Basically, I will argue that Twitter users are more intelligent than the average person.
That is all for now.
have a super weekend!

"We're Going to be in the Hudson"
This is cool stuff. Here's the audio between Flight 1549 and the Air Traffic Controllers. The calmness in which they handle the situation is quite admirable.

Adventist Humor
So there's this website EighteenFourtyFour.com that sells t-shirts for Adventists. However, there's a twist...these t-shirts are somewhat cool, hip, relevant shirts. At least they try to be. Most of them are quite funny, especially for those of us who have grown up as Adventists. Here's some of the artwork from a few of the shirts:

Election Facts
The facts speak for themselves. Very interesting information. Check it out...
Professor Joseph Olson of Hemline University School of Law, St. Paul, Minnesota, points out facts of 2008 Presidential election:
Number of States won by: Democrats: 19 Republicans: 29
Square miles of land won by: Democrats: 580,000
Republicans: 2,427,000
Population of counties won by: Democrats: 127 million
Republicans: 143 million
Murder rate per 100,000 residents in counties won by:
Democrats: 13.2
Republicans: 2.1 Professor Olson adds: "In aggregate, the map of the territory won by Republicans was mostly the land owned by the taxpaying citizens of the country.
Democrat territory mostly encompassed those citizens living in
government-owned tenements and living off various forms of government welfare. Professor Olson believes the United States is now somewhere between the "complacency and apathy" phase of Professor Tyler's definition of democracy, with some forty percent of the nation's population already having reached the "governmental dependency" phase. If Congress grants amnesty and citizenship to twenty million criminal
invaders called illegal's and they vote, then we can say goodbye to the USA in fewer than five years.

The Best Prepackaged Cookies
![](https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhuUmbJwEbDNvz5VeOBQ41Lq5Qq1d79l08fh4o4AfyLM7UMmnQ5pL6vTE4LvjOzPcZ1sHXpIkgEAShFkg1H1LGKtp6AtGDahbjo7jFDW-RY-w-mzduomiPdBrP769ZFQ6YOXgYQ8VhEFBwq/s320/cookie.jpg)
I challenge anybody anywhere to find a better prepackaged, non-homemade cookie than the Pepperidge Farms Tahoe Cookies. They contain white chocolate and macadamia nuts. They simply cannot be beat. I am not the biggest "sweets" person, but I really enjoy these cookies. The price could be lower, especially since you only get 8 cookies for about 3 bucks. Other than that, these cookies are quite all right.

Amazing Story
The plane crash in the Hudson River today was absolutely amazing. A perfect story, if you will. How many good endings do we actually see occur after a plane crashes? I believe technology played a huge role in the story today. Many Americans across the country found out about the news thanks to sites like Twitter. Some of the earliest candid pictures arrived on Twitter and Flickr minutes after the crash. CNN and Fox just cannot compete with that. That's what makes it so cool. Thanks to the internet we get to see live shots from real people of these crazy events. I love it. Here are some pictures that were taken by real people on the scene that I found on Twitter and Flickr:

They Finally Did It
Being the nerd I am, I am aware that the local CBS affiliate here in Atlanta, channel 46, has finally flipped to HD. They have also gone with a new graphics package as well. It all looks really awesome. They finally look like a top 10 market newscast. I have always been a fan of CBS 46/Atlanta. In Atlanta, they are traditionally the ratings loser in Atlanta TV news, but they have put together quite a crew during the past few years. I hear that their ratings are slowly getting better. They really do have the best overall newscast in Atlanta, in my opinion. They also have the freshest talent. A lot of the Atlanta tv news folk have been on their respective channels for years and years. It just seems like a younger and fresher bunch over at CBS. Hopefully the rest of Atlanta will begin to figure that out as well and start tuning in.
Anyways, here's some pics of the new look CBS Atlanta:

Weekend Review
So I went 2-2 in my NFL picks. Not too shabby. Who, in their right mind, could have honestly picked the Cardinals to beat the Panthers on the road? Not me for sure. Well anyways, here's to hoping we see a Steelers-Eagles Super Bowl. I also wouldn't mind it too much if the Cardinals won the NFC. They're just a great and compelling story now after beating the Panthers. But no matter what, the Steelers must win the AFC. We cannot have those thugs on the Ravens in the Super Bowl again.
SO the legen,,,,wait for it....dary Neil Patrick Harris hosted SNL this past weekend. In my opinion, SNL put on an awesome show once again. I am really like the current cast a whole lot. They are very solid. Anyways, here's a couple of the best bits from this past weekend's show:
Enjoy.

NFL Picks
Here are my predictions for this weekend's NFL playoff games. I guarantee that I will go at least 3-1. So call your bookie now. I'm just picking winners straight up.
Giants over Eagles
Steelers over Chargers
Ravens over Titans
Panthers over Cardinals
Yep, all of the home teams win except the Ravens. I hate the Ravens, but their defense is way nasty right now.
So there are the picks. Now we just have to wait and see what actually happens.

Smoltz
![](http://media.philly.com/images/john+smoltz.jpg)
So you cannot go anywhere in Atlanta today without hearing about how the Atlanta Braves have let longtime ace pitcher John Smoltz walk away and sign with the Boston Red Sox. As a lifelong Braves fan, I cannot even put into words how mad I am with the Braves front office. They have let the team leader, the community representative, the face of the franchise, a future Hall of Famer, and one of the most beloved players in the game just walk away over an insignificant $3 million or so. This happens when at the beginning of the offseason the Braves were bragging that they had so much money to spend. Yet they cannot find a few million more for arguably the most important player this franchise has ever seen? Especially considering that have done pretty much nothing else to improve the team this offseason. They have the money, but they refused to offer just a very small portion of it to such a great ballplayer and person.
In my short life of 21 years, I've pretty much only known the Braves as winners up until recently. I have always been proud to be a Braves fan. I wonder if I would be as interested in baseball as I am if the Braves were not winning every year like they were during the majority of my childhood. I like other sports & other teams, but I am first and foremost an Atlanta Braves fan. And I must say that I am, probably for the first time ever, disappointed in the Atlanta Braves as an organization. It just makes me sick to my stomach that they could not find it in themselves to offer the great John Smoltz just a little more money. Is that too much to ask for considering all the man has done for this city the past 20+ years? John Smoltz has been a Brave as long as I have been alive. And now, he is not.
The Braves are going to most definitely see a backlash for allowing Smoltz to walk. Many college kids in my age range have grown up knowing the Braves as winners, and they expect nothing less. They know this organization as one of the classiest organizations in all of sports. They expect great things from the Atlanta Braves. And I am afraid that many of us now are going to turn our backs on the Braves because they are no longer the organization that we all once knew. It is a shame, but the Braves deserve all of the backlash that they receive. They need to know that this generation of Braves fans do not put up with the disrespect that the Braves showed towards Smoltz. This is turning into a public relations nightmare for the Braves, and I do not feel bad for them at all. They screwed up and acted unlike themselves. And now they must face the consequences, which I am positive will include much lower ticket sales this upcoming season.
As for Smoltz, I wish him the best. I hope he does well in Boston and wins another ring before he retires. It just stinks that he will not have the opportunity to do such in a Braves uniform. It's hard for many of us to accept, but it is the end of an era in Atlanta today. However, I guess it is fitting that Smoltz leaves us before the 2009 season. We will also begin the 2009 season without two other Braves legends and fan favorites, Skip Caray & Pete Van Wieren, the longtime Braves announcers. 2009 is definitely going to be a change for us Braves fans.
So with that I say goodbye and God Bless John Smoltz. Atlanta will miss you.
